In tap dance, the double pull-back cross step is a combination of two separate moves, the pull back, or pickup, and the cross over, or front Irish step. Here's how to execute the combination

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place your feet shoulder-width apart. Balance your weight on both legs and relax your knees.

  2. Step 2

Lift your left leg slightly off the ground. Do 2 brush steps diagonally toward the back. Shift your hips so your left foot crosses behind your right.

  3. Step 3

Land on the ball of your foot and shift your weight to the left leg, which should be behind the right leg. Proper weight distribution is a key element in any tap dance step.

  4. Step 4

Reach your right leg out and around in a half-circle. Point your toes down as you circle your foot from front to back. Finish the circle by meeting the right foot with the left. You now have the same stance you started with.

  5. Step 5

Repeat the brush steps to the back with the right leg and continue the step. This combination tap step looks like you are doing brush steps backwards while crossing your feet.
