A particular sequence of tap dance steps forms the shuffle scuff combination. To perform this combination, you must know the basic tap moves.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand with your feet hip-width apart and your knees bent. Lean your upper body forward slightly.

  2. Step 2

Shuffle with your right leg backwards. To perform a shuffle, put your weight on your left foot with your toe pointing out. Lower your right leg and strike the ball of your foot against the floor in a backward motion.

  3. Step 3

Do a pickup change from your left foot to your right foot. A pickup is a hopping brush step. Start with your weight on your left foot. Put your right foot in the air and do a brush step. Land on the ball of your foot.

  4. Step 4

Drop your right heel. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 three more times.

  5. Step 5

Do a scuff hop step with your right leg. A scuff is the same as a brush step, only it is performed with your heel hitting the floor instead of the ball of your foot. A hop is a jump into the air on one foot with the supporting leg's knee flexed. You land on the supporting leg. Follow the step with another scuff hop step with the left leg.

  6. Step 6

Perform a ball change. Shift your weight onto the balls of your feet and rotate back and forth. Put your weight on your left leg, and then on your right leg.
