Competitive kickboxers employ combinations to stun, fend off and overwhelm their opponents. Although kicks are the hardest to learn, these long-range weapons build leaner, stronger and more muscular legs. Leg sweeps combinations throw your attacker off balance, leaving him open for an attack.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Assume the fighter's stance. Balance your weight on both feet, tuck your chin down and raise your arms in the guard position. Prepare for the stomp kick, which can be done from either the front or the rear leg.

  2. Step 2

Fold your front leg and raise the knee into position. Thrust the hips forward and snap the lower leg out towards the target, keeping the toes back. Strike with the ball of the foot or the entire foot.

  3. Step 3

Fold the knee quickly back to the folded position. Put the leg down and return to the fighter's stance. Prepare for the sweep kick.

  4. Step 4

Shift the weight onto the front leg. Move your rear foot in a circular motion from the outside and turn the rear body forward. Sweep the foot inside and up, targeting the outer ankles.

  5. Step 5

Make impact with the inside of your foot. The sweeping motion knocks your attacker off balance. Swing the kick through and return to the fighter's stance.
