Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Consider the weather. If you want outdoor speakers and an outdoor sound system, you need to first consider what will happen when it rains. This means you either need to place the speakers near the house to keep them away from potential rain or use compact outdoor speakers that you can place them anywhere that won't be vulnerable to hazardous weather. Also go with indoor/outdoor speakers. They cost the same as regular speakers.
Step2
Place your sound system either right inside your house and have a remote you can use to adjust the music and volume, or place your sound system box itself right up close to your house, so it's protected from the elements. You also need to keep in mind that your sound system has to be near an electrical outlet so you can plug it in.
Step3
Run your speaker wires along your deck posts or your fences. Try not to run them overhead as they can be easily seen. The goal should be to hide the wires as well as possible.
Step4
Place your speakers however you like them. One major thing to keep in mind when placing your sound system speakers is your neighbors. If you have close by neighbors, make sure your speakers are either pointed toward your house and away from your neighbors or that there are some boundaries that can block sound. The only other way you can keep the sound level low for neighbors is to always play your music at a low volume.
Step5
Consider wireless speakers which don't need wires to run around your deck or patio. Wireless speakers are more expensive, but they can be exactly what you need for your backyard patio.
