Resurrection Bay, Alaska, is a good fishing spot near Sterling and Anchorage, Alaska. There is plenty of fresh or salt water fishing available here. There are a number of small scale, homelike fishing camps around the area. Use the tips below for a successful fishing trip at Resurrection Bay.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Fish Resurrection Bay between May 1 and August 31. This is the prime fishing season here. This is important for you to know because despite your desire to want to beat the crowds, fishing Resurrection Bay during the peak summer months should be your goal.

  2. Step 2

Bring warm layered clothing and book your trip 12 to 18 months in advance. This is a popular place to fish, so plan early.

  3. Step 3

Fly into Anchorage, and drive three hours from there or fly into Kenai where Arctic Tern Charters can meet your fishing party.

  4. Step 4

Fish for halibut, king salmon, silver salmon and red salmon at Resurrection Bay. At this location, your fresh and salt water equipment is provided for you with the exception of the rods and reels.

  5. Step 5

Plan for a fairly decent-sized budget for your fishing trip to Resurrection Bay. Bunkhouses here sleep one to four guests with rates ranging from $250 to $295 per person per day. The price includes all lodging, meals, a fishing guide, tackle, bait, fish processing and transportation to and from Kenai. Pretty much everything you need for your trip is included in your price.

  6. Step 6

Prepare for other activities in the area like hiking, photography and wildlife viewing.
