Step 1
Try fishing along Lake Clark and Bristol Bay by walking or wading. While you can take a boat out or stay on the shore, some of the best fishing here is done by wading.
-
Step 2
Get a fishing guide with the U.S. Coast Guard or by an Alaska certified guide. Guide fishing can cost $195 to $295 per person per day at Bristol Bay.
-
Step 3
Try fishing near Tanalian Falls in the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. This is a popular spot for tourists and fishermen alike.
-
Step 4
Be ready to catch King salmon, red salmon, rainbow trout and northern pike. These are some of the most highly populated fish in this area.
-
Step 5
Dress appropriately for the conditions, remembering to take the weather into consideration. Being prepared as far as equipment goes is one thing; however, being too hot, too cold or too wet can wreak havoc on your fly fishing adventure.
-
Step 6
Have a large budget for accommodations. Some accommodations can cost quite a bit. Tent camping on the Nushagak River is a very large sum per person per week, but the price includes all meals.
