But a bottom release of cold water from the base of a dam has created one of the best trout fishing spots in the United States in the White River. You can access the river fairly easily along Highway 412.

      Obtain a license. Arkansas requires residents over the age of 16 to obtain a fishing license. Non-residents can purchase annual licenses or three, seven, or 14-day trip licenses. Arkansas fishing licenses are available online through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission or at many in-state bait and tackle shops.
