Make a PVC pipe bed project to fit any size of mattress. Create this bed completely out of 4-inch PVC pipe and PVC pipe connectors or choose a larger size to fit your decor. PVC pipe projects are lightweight, sturdy and easy to assemble.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 4-inch PVC pipes cut 1 foot in length
  • 4 4-inch PVC pipes cut 4 feet in length
  • 8 4-way corner connectors
  • 4 4-inch PVC end caps
  • Hacksaw
  • 6 3-way "T" connectors
  • 8 4-inch PVC pipes cut the width of your mattress
  • 6 4-inch PVC pipes cut the length of your mattress
  • 4 3-way corner connectors
  • PVC cement
  1. Step 1

Place a 1-foot PVC pipe into two straight ends of a 4-way PVC corner connector. The piece needs to look like 2-foot tall pipe with a 4-way connector in the middle. Repeat this process for three more corner connectors.

  2. Step 2

Attach a 4-way corner connector to the top of one of the pipes. On the other end, slide the 4 end caps onto the pipes. It does not matter witch end the connector is on as long as an end cap is on the other end.

  3. Step 3

Take two of the pipe pieces you just made and connect them together with two pipes cut the width of the mattress. Repeat this process with the other two pipes you made. You now have the head board and foot board.

  4. Step 4

Measure the length of the mattress and divide it by three. Use the measurement to cut two mattress-length pipes into three equal sections. Place one of the cut pipes into the free connector on the bottom of the 4-way connector for each side of the bed. Attach "T" connectors to the ends of each of these pipes. This gives you the frame with a gap in each side.

  5. Step 5

Connect the straight end of the connector to the other straight end of the connector on the same side of the bed frame with other section of the cut pipe from Step 4. Repeat for the other side of the bed. The free hole in each connector needs to point toward the inside of the bed.

  6. Step 6

Attach the connectors with two more mattress-length pipes. You now have the basic bed frame.

  7. Step 7

Place two 4-foot pipes into the open ends of the 4-way connectors on the corners of the bed. Attach 3-way corner connectors to the top of each 4-foot pipe. Connect them together with two mattress-width pipes on one side of the connector and two mattress-length pipes on the other side of the connector. This gives you the canopy and four posters of the bed.

  8. Step 8

Apply PVC cement around each connector and pipe to hold it into place. Allow the cement to dry.

Tips & Warnings
