When it comes to shopping, many people don't have a clue how to go about it properly. If you don't know your stuff, you can easily end up paying too much for a sub-par product. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to protect yourself and your pocketbook. With a little bit of discipline, you too can be a savvy shopper in no time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Do your research. The key to savvy shopping is to find the best possible product on the market. With a little bit of research online, you can find pages and pages of customer reviews that tell you what to look for and what to avoid when making major purchases.
Step2
Comparison shop. Once you've settled on a specific brand or product, you need to find the best deal. A little bit more research and a few trips around town will help you get a feel for the going rate for that item on your wish list. Don't forget to factor in shipping if you're buying something online.
Step3
Don't be afraid to pay for quality. Being a savvy shopper doesn't always mean you have to be a bargain hunter. Often times, the best product to buy isn't the cheapest thing on the shelf. Your job is to find the product that gives you the most return for your money.
Step4
Buy used. Sometimes the smartest thing to do is to buy an item slightly used. You can save quite a bit of money, and can usually get just as much use out of it as if you were to buy it new.
