Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yarn
  • Tables
  • Bins
  • Refreshments
  1. Step 1

Find a group people interested in participating in a yarn swap. If you are involved in local knitting circles, or groups that knit for charity, this should not be difficult. Most knitters have a few remnant balls of yarns collecting dust that they would love to exchange for something new and exciting.

  2. Step 2

Establish a location for the yarn swap. Many restaurants have meeting rooms available for such events, provided that participants purchase food and/or drinks. Plan and book ahead of time. You may also elect to host the event in your home and have guests bring refreshments along with their remnant and leftover skeins of yarn.

  3. Step 3

Decide how you want the yarn skeins labeled, and whether you are going to allow yarn remnants. Establish some guidelines ahead of time and send them out with the invitations.

  4. Step 4

Set up tables and bins to display the yarns being swapped. Allow swappers to see what is available and bid, buy or swap according to what they like.

Tips & Warnings
  • Create a theme for your yarn swap to allow the attendees to show off their creativity. You may also get higher participation and attendance.
