Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Long sleeve shirt or jacket
- Wristwatch
Step1
Prepare in advance by slipping the wand up the left sleeve and securing the tip under the wristband of a watch. It is best if the wand tip protrudes slightly and if the wand itself is not much longer than the distance between the inside of the elbow and the wrist.
Step2
Show that the right hand is empty. Show the back of the hand and then the palm.
Step3
Display the back of the left hand, gesturing towards it with the right Vanna White-style. Drop the left hand to show that the palm is empty. As it is falling, touch the fingertips of the right hand to the heel of the left palm. This should effectively cover the tip of the wand.
Step4
Raise both hands up and pretend to adjust the cuffs. While doing this, slide the tip of the wand down, free of the watchband. Dropping the left hand, the wand will start to fall from the sleeve and should be caught with the slightly curled fingers of the left hand. Dropping the wand at this point pretty much ruins everything, so don't do it.
Step5
Talk while you hold the wand with the left thumb and uncurl the fingers. Allow the wand to slide down until it even with the fingertips. This entire process should only take about one second. As much of the wand as possible should be free from the sleeve.
Step6
Swing the left arm up in front of the chest. Curl the ring and pinkie fingers while keeping the middle and index straight. Loosening the thumb grip on the wand allows it to shoot out of the sleeve. When it is clear of the sleeve, press down with the thumb to trap the wand between the thumb and ring and pinkie fingers. If done quickly, this will make it appear as if the wand is springing upwards from the left hand.
