Baby's first Christmas is a magical and special time for new parents. To make it even more memorable, decorate your Christmas tree in a baby theme.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Christmas tree
  • Strings of white or pastel lights
  • Purchased decorations
  • Handmade decorations
  • Wired pastel bows
  • Pastel or white Christmas balls
  • Tree topper
  1. Step 1

Select a tree or use one you have already. You may want to have a special smaller tree for the baby's room or next to your regular Christmas tree. A white tree suggests softness and looks lovely with pastel ornaments.

  2. Step 2

String lights on the tree. Mix white lights with pink or blue strands or use white or pastel lights alone.

  3. Step 3

Purchase some heirloom ornaments. Most ornament makers have a "Baby's First Christmas" ornament inscribed with the year. Look in card stores, department stores and online. You'll probably get more ornaments from family and friends, too.

  4. Step 4

Look for decorative baby items in ceramic, porcelain and silver that can be modified to hang from a tree. Silver rattles, porcelain baby booties, baby spoons and baby figurines are some examples.

  5. Step 5

Create homemade ornaments to complete the baby theme. Attach loops of ribbon to pastel wooden alphabet blocks with a glue gun. Display photos of the baby in tiny picture frame ornaments. Fill newborn socks with fiberfill and sew closed. Cast your baby's hand and foot prints in non-toxic clay or plaster. Carve the year with a pen tip or awl and punch a hole to slip ribbon through.

  6. Step 6

Use teddy bears as part of the theme. It's easy to find or create teddy bear ornaments. Paint unfinished bear ornaments or create them from felt, clay, or salt dough.

  7. Step 7

Fill in the rest of the tree. Tie pastel bows made from wired ribbon on branches of the tree. Add pastel or white glass balls or styrofoam balls covered in pastel fabric or paper. Create a tree topper from a plush bear angel or use a baby-faced cherub or a big pastel bow.
