A Quinceanera is a special party celebrating a 15-year-old girl's transition from childhood to womanhood. This is a special time in their lives, so make sure your 15-year-old's Quinceanera goes off without a hitch with proper advance planning.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Party location
  • Party favors
  • Traditional Quinceanera gifts
  1. Step 1

Determine a date. If you are lucky enough to reserve a party location on the date of her birthday, great! If not, choose a date that is as close to her birthday as possible.

  2. Step 2

Choose and reserve a venue. Visit different banquet halls, ballrooms and restaurants with the guest of honor to find the perfect location. Reserve the space as soon as a decision is made.

  3. Step 3

Get the invitations. Have the birthday girl help you choose the invitations. If you cannot find Quinceanera invitations in a local store, go to the Quinceanera-Boutique website to find them.

  4. Step 4

Send the invitations and be sure to give your guests plenty of time to respond. Send invitations at least 3 weeks in advance.

  5. Step 5

Pick a "Quinceanera Court." Have the guest of honor make up a list of people she would like on her Quinceanera Court. Do this far enough in advance for those selected to be fitted for dresses (for girls) and suits (for boys).

  6. Step 6

Plan the menu. If the food is to be catered, discuss the menu with the caterer. If the Quinceanera is at a restaurant, discuss the menu with the executive chef to plan the food items and the general manager to discuss prices.

  7. Step 7

Choose party favors to thank guests for attending. Make sure the favors include the guest of honor's name and date of the Quinceanera by having the information imprinted on a ribbon that is tied around the party favor or on the box in which the party favors are contained.

  8. Step 8

Plan to give the traditional Quinceanera gifts of a tiara, a bracelet, ring or a pair of earrings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep an up-to-date list of guests that have responded with regrets and cannot make the party. This will help you when planning the menu and when buying or making party favors.
  • Start planning well in advance during the busy wedding months of May and June. You may need the extra time to reserve a party venue.
