Step 1
Inform yourself about the Cookie Diet. The name "Cookie Diet" conjures up images of people eating tasty cookies with abandon and somehow losing weight. In reality, the Cookie Diet requires adherence to a strict regimen of roughly 6 special cookies a day, very little other food and sometimes even a program of appetite suppressants. So learn about the program and speak with your doctor before you jump into the diet.

Step 2
Get your thyroid checked. Much of the physiological reasoning behind the Cookie Diet rests on the existence of thyroid problems. Women who have thyroid problems have problems with losing weight. The best way to see if this is the case is to have a doctor check your thyroid. If you don't want to see a doctor, try a restricted calorie diet for 2 weeks and monitor how much weight you are able to lose.

Step 3
Buy the cookies. Like any commercial or fad diet, you have to shell out some money in order to start the diet. You can sign up for the diet and buy the cookies and materials from the Cookie Diet Online or from Smart For Life (see Resources below). You will most likely have to consult with a doctor who participates in the Cookie Diet program, so be prepared for a trip to the doctor's office.

Step 4
Be strict while you're on the diet. At the end of the day, the Cookie Diet is a way to lose weight while still eating cookies, not while eating the same as you usually do. The Cookie Diet usually requires that you eat only one meal a day and that you substitute snacks and small meals for liquids. To lose weight on the Cookie Diet you have to stick to the plan, since cheating or bending the rules might upset the weight loss chemical balance that the diet achieves.
