The Toyger cats were named by combining the words "toy" and "tiger." They have been bred in the USA and have recently been accepted by TICA as a qualifying breed. They are bred from a striped American Shorthair and a standard Bengal Tabby. The Toyger is one of many designer cat breeds and is still in development. Follow the below steps to identify a Toyger cat.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Feel the coat of the cat. The Toyger has a short, thick and plush feel. It should feel extremely luxurious. The coat of the Toyger has a glitter to it.

  2. Step 2

Look at the coloring of the cat. The coat has an orange/tan undercoat with dark stripes, like that of the tiger. The stripes form an irregular pattern. The coat must be striped with no spotting.

  3. Step 3

Examine the ears. They should be small and rounded.

  4. Step 4

The body is medium size with a strong torso. The bone structure is solid; the cat possesses a good sense of balance.

  5. Step 5

Examine the tail. It is long, muscular and carried low.
