1
Investigate the reasons that your child is not fulfilling his obligations. While issues with self-confidence are a common culprit, you need to rule out even more serious causes such as drug or alcohol abuse.
-
2
Take your child in for a psychological examination. Depression, anxiety and grief sometimes manifest themselves in a lazy child.
-
-
3
Make children earn their privileges. Television, video games and cell phones distract children from their responsibilities. It is easier for a child to be lazy if there is nothing in it for him.
-
4
Take away privileges if responsibilities are not met. Cell phones, video games and driving privileges are not necessities for your child. Even though taking away some of her privileges might be an inconvenience for you, it is important to teach a child that living up to her responsibilities is something to be taken seriously.
