Pumpkins are used for decoration, art and food. This is especially true during the fall season. If you have the land and want to make a profit, then grow pumpkins. Follow these steps to help you grow pumpkins for a profit.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose your growth location. Pumpkins have vines that love to sprawl, therefore pick a location where they will be able to spread. Remember that pumpkins need good soil and a lot of sun in order to flourish.

  2. Step 2

Plant your pumpkin seeds. There are various pumpkin seeds that you can plant. The first thing you need to decide is what kind of pumpkins you want to grow. Also choose a seed that will grow best in your soil and climate.

  3. Step 3

Train and prune the vines to grow the way you want them to. This way the pumpkin vines can be contained in the growth area and not grow into areas that you don't want them in. Train your pumpkins to grow harmoniously with other plants that you are growing.

  4. Step 4

Harvest your pumpkins. Time the seeding prior to the pumpkin season. Pumpkins need at least three months to grow. The weather needs to be warm and frost free in order for your pumpkins to grow properly.

  5. Step 5

Make your profit. As your pumpkins are growing think of a marketing plan to sell your pumpkins. This can include a newspaper ad, word of mouth, or flyers. Decide whether you will have people come to your property to pick their own pumpkin or whether you will sell them in a farmers market or on a street corner. Once you sell your pumpkins and reap the profits start planning for the next season.
