Being a stay-at-home mom can be rewarding yet difficult at the same time. Some stay-at-home moms feel as if they are isolated from the rest of the world. To combat this, it is very important for a stay-at-home mom to make friends with other stay-at-home moms. Doing this is not difficult if you know how to go about it. Here's how to make friends with stay-at-home moms.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Join a mom's group at the hospital where you delivered your baby. Often, hospitals have support groups for new moms, and a lot of the time, stay-at-home moms attend these support groups. These groups can be a good way to meet other stay-at-home moms with children of a similar age to your own.

  2. Step 2

Participate in programs with your child. Activities in your local neighborhood such as play classes or story time at the library can be good places to meet other stay-at-home moms. These activities are entertaining for your child as well.

  3. Step 3

Locate a chapter of the International MOMS Club near you. You can go to the website for the International MOMS Club to search for a chapter in your area (see Resources below). This club is for stay-at-home moms and their children. Individual chapters may have yearly dues, but it's free to search for a local club and visit one to check it out.

  4. Step 4

Search online for local meet ups with stay-at-home moms in your area. There is a website called Meetup that allows you to search for local groups with all sorts of people, such as stay-at-home moms (see Resources below). You can create an account for free online, then you can search for groups in your area that may be of interest to you.

  5. Step 5

Consider joining MOPS, or Mothers of Preschoolers. This group, for mothers with preschool aged children, is usually composed of mostly stay-at-home moms. The website for MOPS allows you to locate a chapter near you, and it gives lots of information on MOPS in general (see Resources below).

  6. Step 6

Meet other stay-at-home moms online on mommy message boards. Message boards are on websites such as MSN. You can make online friendships with other stay-at-home moms, or you may even be able to find local moms that you can become friends with as well (see Resources below).

  7. Step 7

Get to know the parents of your child's friends. Some of your child's friends may also have stay-at-home moms and this can be a good source of friends for the stay-at-home mom.
