Instructions

    • 1

Collect the light bulb(s). If you are doing this for a large group such as a class, have them bring a used light bulb from home. You can also purchase light bulbs inexpensively at a local superstore.

    • 2

Paint an oval in a flesh-colored acrylic paint on the center area of the largest part of the bulb.

    • 3

Paint the rest of the large area of the bulb bright white with an acrylic paint.

    • 4

Paint the skinny part of the bulb or the "neck" red for Santa's hat. Also paint the socket area white for the white puff on his hat.

    • 5

Use a black paint pen or brush dipped in black acrylic paint to make Santa's face. Dot on two pink circles for his rosy cheeks.

    • 6

Touch up the beard and hat with white paint.

    • 7

Use a length of chord or ribbon in a complementary color and hot glue to the back of the bulb.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wrap in tissue paper if giving as a party favor to keep from breaking.

  • Paint pens are great for painting on details as they offer you more control when drawing on faces and small details.

  • Be sure to supervise children with the paints and light bulbs. The acrylic paints should be non-toxic. Use paint pens with caution.
