Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plywood or MDF board
  • Two to four 2-by-4 inch boards
  • Four hinges
  • Two hook and eyes
  1. Step 1

Locate a wall or a solid door to which you can mount the workbench. Determine the size and height of the bench.

  2. Step 2

Mark the height where the bench will be installed on the wall. Find the studs in the wall and mark those as well.

  3. Step 3

Cut a piece of plywood or MDF board to use as the top of the bench. Make sure it will clear the floor when folded down.

  4. Step 4

Shorten the 2x4 boards to the desired height. They will serve as the legs for the workbench, and will fold up and lay flat against its bottom. Stand the boards on the bottom of the workbench top, at the outer edge, then attach to the inside with some locking hinges.

  5. Step 5

Attach two sets of hinges to the topside of the board. For added stability, attach a narrow board horizontally to the wall. Mount the hinges on the workbench top to the board. Rest it on the legs and other 2x4 boards to keep it in place while attaching it.

  6. Step 6

Fold the bench against the wall. Add a hook and eye to each side to hold the bench against the wall when it is not it use.
