If you have struggled with caring for your oily skin, you should consider using sage. Sage, which is used in many crafts and Italian recipes, is also an excellent ingredient to include when making facial toner and other skin care products for oily skin. Its astringent properties will help clear your skin and make it soft and smooth.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Glass mixing bowl
  • Glass measuring cup (4 cups)
  • Aluminium foil
  • 1 oz. of dried or 3 oz. of fresh sage leaves
  • 1 pt. boiling water
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Glass bottle with tight lid or cork
  • Cotton balls

Step1
Make an infusion of the sage leaves. Place the fresh or dried sage leaves in a glass mixing bowl. Pour the boiling water over the leaves.
Step2
Cover the measuring cup with a small piece of aluminum foil. Let the leaves and water steep for 15 minutes.
Step3
Drain the resulting infusion off the sage leaves and discard the leaves. Then pour the infusion into the measuring cup and see how much you've made.
Step4
Pour an equal amount of cider vinegar into the measuring cup with the infusion. Mix these liquids together gently.
Step5
Stir the mixture gently and pour it into a glass bottle. Close tightly and store your sage facial toner in the refrigerator.
Step6
Use your sage facial toner to refresh your skin after your regular cleansing. Moisten a cotton ball with the toner and wipe gently over your face using even upward strokes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Store the dried sage leaves in a cool dark place. This will allow them to retain their potency.
  • Stop using your sage facial toner immediately if you develop redness or a rash. If it doesn't disappear in a few days, go visit your doctor.
