Step 1
Make the decision that yoga is important. When something becomes important enough, like family time, gassing up the car or eating, it automatically finds room in your schedule.
-
Step 2
Decide when doing yoga would best work for you. Some people prefer to wake up and exercise, some choose to end their day with stretching and relaxation.
-
Step 3
Select a time and date. Put yoga on your calendar. It is fine if yoga has to be an appointment before it can fall easily into your routine. Post the time and day on your refrigerator or message board to help motivate you.
-
Step 4
Start out slow. You can begin yoga as a once or twice a week routine. Just make sure that it is a regular part of your schedule, then add more time or sessions when you feel ready to commit.
-
Step 5
Reflect on your past attempts of adding habits. You will know if starting yoga as part of your routine is something you can do on your own, or if you need the encouragement and structure of a class to motivate you to be successful.
