How to Fix Red Eye With Paint Shop Pro 8

Nothing ruins a good picture faster than subjects with red eyes. No, aliens haven't taken over. Red eye happens when the camera's flash reflects off the retina of the subject's eye. Luckily, Corel's photo editing program, Paint Shop Pro 8, knows just how to fix that annoying problem. Follow these steps to fix red eye using Paint Shop Pro 8.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

1. Open the photo file you want to fix.
2. Click "Adjust" from the menu bar, and then choose "Red-Eye Removal." You can also access the red-eye tool from the Photo toolbar. When the Red-Eye Removal window opens, you should have an editing panel on the left and a preview panel on the right. If you don't, click on the "Show/Hide Review Panels" button.
3. Choose "Auto Human Eye" in the Method window. Select a hue and color for the eyes.
4. Center the eyes in the preview panel. Then click on the center of one eye in the editing panel. A control box pops up to allow you to adjust the settings. Preview your changes in the right panel.
5. Enlarge the view to make adjustment easier. Just click the "Zoom In" button. Use the "Navigate" button or drag inside the preview panel to reposition the eyes.
6. Apply the change to eye color by clicking "OK."
7. Repeat Steps 4 to 6 for other red eyes. For each photo subject, the settings used for the first eye are saved, so fixing the other eye should go faster.
