Request letters of recommendation from coaches. These letters can be from high school or recreational coaches. They should focus on the skills the athlete possesses that will help them on the college level.

Attend any events sponsored by universities being considered. College fencing coaches usual host these events, so this is a great way to catch their attention, and the attention of the recruiters.

Clip newspaper articles. Any articles regarding personal or team performances should be kept.

Gather videotapes. Make a compilation tape of highlights and great matches that showcase the athlete's talents. Sending videos of every match would be way too many for a recruiter to go through, so choose the best matches and moments of skill.

Make sure to invest time on high school classes. Keeping a good grade point average is necessary to get into college in the first place. In order to get recruited, the athlete must meet at least the minimum grade point for the college.

Step 6
Complete any information requested by colleges as quickly as possible. Also, ask coaches to do the same. Most of the time, if a college requests information of the athlete or their coaches, they are considering them for recruitment. By returning this information in a timely and professional manner, the athlete increases his chances of being recruited.
