Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Do some research. Not only is it important to find a school that offers competitive bowling, but also a college that matches the athletes academic goals. Desired fields of study, clubs and anything else important to the athlete should be considered as well. This information can be attained at the college's website, or by calling their academic departments.
Step2
Ask coaches for letters of recommendation. This includes high school coaches, as well as league coaches and recreational coaches.
Step3
Attend camps, tournaments or any other sponsored event at the college of choice. Attending school-sponsored events is a great way to meet the coaching staff and make a good impression on them. The Directors of these camps and heads ot the tournaments are usually the head coaches. If an athlete proves himself at these functions, it is a great way to begin being recruited.
Step4
Clip newspaper articles. Articles that highlight personal or team achievements should be kept.
Step5
Keep in touch with former teammates who go on to compete in college bowling. These individuals can prove to be a great asset when trying to get recruited. Having a contact on the team increases an athlete's chance of being recruited tremendously.
Step6
Return information quickly. Any information requested by the college should be returned in a timely manner. This includes any information requested of the athlete or the athlete's coaches.
