High school field hockey players dream of taking their game to the next level--college field hockey. While making the team is a goal, many athletes would love to be recruited by a college field hockey team. These athletes should be aware that being recruited is not only the result of skill and talent on the field, but also self-promotion to catch the recruiter's attention. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Clip newspaper articles. Any articles that focus on the athlete's personal performance, as well as the team's performance should be kept.
Step2
Gather videotapes. Make a compilation of highlights that focus on the athlete's skills, rather than sending a huge assortment of videos.
Step3
Attend any camps or tournaments sponsored by the colleges of choice. The head coaching staff from the field hockey team are usually in charge of directing any field hockey camps and tournaments the college sponsors. This is a great opportunity to get both the coaching staff's and recruiter's attention and possibly get recruited.
Step4
Ask coaches to write letters of recommendation. These letters should be positive, and focus on the athlete's assets that will aid in the transition to college sports.
Step5
Complete information as quickly as possible and return it to the colleges. This goes for athletes and their coaches. Colleges usually only ask for information if they are considering the athlete for recruitment. In order to speed up the process, all information should be returned in a timely and professional manner. This can lead to a greater chance of being recruited.
