3. Drill down to the webpage devoted to the sale of tickets. Ticket sales begin the fall prior to the event. Tickets can be purchased online. You may sign up for a newsletter that keeps you up to date regarding when ticket bookings begin.
4. Check some of the commercial sites that include not only tickets but accommodations. There are a large number of such companies, and they can make the process of seeing the Open much easier than approaching it piecemeal.
