Step 1
Look at your team and figure out which positions are the weakest. View the scores each position has given you in the preceding weeks. For example, if your wide receivers aren't producing, that is an area you can look to improve via the waiver wire.
-
Step 2
View the players available on your fantasy football league's waiver wire. Depending on the software that you are using as your fantasy football league host, the exact procedure to reach the list of available players differs. However, the available players on the waiver wire are usually referred to "free agents" and an easily accessible link is usually provided on the homepage of your fantasy football league.
-
Step 3
Filter the list of available players on the waiver wire to show only the position that you are in need of addressing. After you have sorted the players by position, sort the players by production. The players at the top of the list are the top available players at the position you need available on the waiver wire.
-
Step 4
Use the official website of the NFL to research the top options on the waiver wire. On the homepage of the NFL website, click on the "Players" link near the top of the page. On the next page, type in the last name of the player you are researching in the player search box. Once you are on the player's page, click on "Game Logs" to view a list of games played by that player.
-
Step 5
Select a player from the waiver wire that is producing better than players on your current team. Once you replace the player on your team with a better producing player from the waiver wire, your fantasy football team will be improved without have to trade with another owner.
