Step1
Understand that you may be a little nervous to adventure out on the East coastline in a long narrow, tube-like boat called a kayak. Paddling around in the salt water ocean.
Step2
Take a 90-minute lesson with a local kayaking company that is familiar with the waters. The Atlantic water tends to be rough but with proper guidance you'll see how easy it is to paddle through.
Step3
Use standard kayaking gear like the spray skirts (nylon that fits snuggly around your waist), so there'll be no need to panic in the choppy waters.
Step4
Take a professional guide with you or join a kayaking outdoor adventure company who offers guided kayaking group tours. Tours range from 1/2 day to overnight trips that last three to four days.

Paddle along and bobble in the Atlantic Ocean. Depending what area of the coast your choose, you have an excellent chance of seeing icebergs, bald eagles, red cliffs, white sands, whales and lighthouses. Some areas are secluded while other areas are filed with sunbathers and beachcombers.

  • All water sports are a tremendous amount of fun, but are potentially hazardous. Attempt kayak trips at your level not beyond.
  • Be vigilant by staying aware of the weather forecast before taking off into the ocean waters.
  • Don't forget sunglasses and sun block. The ocean water reflects the sun, so at times the glare off the water is quite strong.
