How to Join a Pro Sports Team

To join a pro sports team, you must be a professional athlete and to be a professional athlete, you must have beaten major odds--25,000 to 1 to 50,000 to 1-- depending on the way you consider the population of people who dream about this. Either number is sobering for a wannabe pro. If a particular sport is all a person can dream about, and the idea of not "taking a shot" is intolerable, consider some options on pursuing this dream.

  1. Step 1

Be born with incredibly uncommon physical skills in hand eye coordination, the ability to run at a great speed, the ability to jump, the ability to run long distances, a sense of balance, physical strength or a combination of these skills. You will require these inborn gifts if you are to join a pro sports team.

  2. Step 2

Participate in all the same steps as a star, but because you are unable to dominate your sport, you'll need to work much harder to not fall out of the progression to the status of a professional. You may be unable to participate at a high school level, or if you do, you may not be talented enough to participate at a collegiate level.

  3. Step 3

Work harder than anyone else does. At every level of competition, soak up every bit of knowledge about your sport that you can. Make sure you network at every level. Keep in contact with old coaches and be honest about how far your ability can carry you. Only then will you have a chance to join a pro sports team.
