    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • 9 x 12 piece of gray craft foam
    • Sheet of purple craft foam
    • 9 x 12 piece of non-slip shelf liner
    • Pencil
    • Small piece of gray yarn
    • Tacky glue
    • Piece of gray felt
    • Piece of purple felt
    • Piece of black felt
    • Scissors
    • Thin gray ribbon
    • Wax paper
    • Heavy book
      • 1

Take a 9-by-12 piece of gray craft foam and round the two corners on one side and make a soft point on the other side. This pointed side will be the mouse's nose.

      • 2

Trace the outline of the shape you've created with a pencil onto a piece of non-slip shelf liner and cut out the shape.

      • 3

Trace the pointed side of the gray foam onto a piece of purple craft foam, making the other side of the purple foam curved. Cut out the piece from the foam.

      • 4

Cut a piece of gray yarn and glue it to the rounded end of the gray foam with tacky glue, making a tail for the mouse. Glue it on the bottom of the foam. Glue the piece of non-slip liner to the bottom of the gray foam, covering the yarn.

      • 5

Cut two gray felt circles for the mouse ears, then two smaller pieces in purple felt for the center of the ears. Glue the purple circles to the center of the gray circles and glue the gray circles just under the curved edge of the purple foam piece.

      • 6

Glue three small pieces of thin gray ribbon to each end of the pointy side of the purple foam, which are the whiskers. Cover the ends of the whiskers with a piece of black felt to make the nose. Add two black felt circles for the eyes and glue the purple foam face to the pointy end of the gray foam.

Cover the entire mouse pad with a piece of waxed paper and set a flat heavy object, such as a thick book, on top of the mouse pad. Set the pad aside until the glue is completely dry per the glue manufacturer's directions.

    Tips & Warnings

    • You can also print any kid's picture from your computer onto iron-on transfer paper. Iron the picture onto a blank mouse pad to make any design you choose.
