Things You'll Need:
- Causticum
- Homeopath
-
Step 1
Visit a homeopath in order to be properly evaluated for a homeopathic remedy. A homeopath will generally ask questions about your medical and family history, finding out about your current physical, mental and emotional state before devising a homeopathic remedy. A remedy will then be developed based upon the symptoms of your depression that are deemed to be the most important.
-
Step 2
Have the homeopath prepare the causticum for you. Some homeopaths prefer to prepare remedies the old-fashioned way by diluting the ingredients in water or alcohol, and then shaking the contents vigorously 10 times. More modern homeopaths offer tablets or pills that dissolve under the tongue.
-
Step 3
Find out an appropriate dosage of causticum to take for depression. The frequency of the dosages will depend upon the strength of the dilution of the causticum. When beginning a homeopathic remedy, it is considered safe to take the dosage as needed, with the frequency tapering off as symptoms start to wane.
-
Step 4
Avoid touching the causticum tablets with your fingers before you take them, since the oils from your hands could affect the potency of the remedy. Simply pour a few tablets into the lid of the jar and pop them under your tongue.
-
Step 5
Do not eat or drink anything at least 15 minutes before and after you take a dose of causticum or any other type of homeopathic remedy. Doing so can dilute the remedy and render it useless.
-
Step 6
Order additional causticum, once you know the dosage that works for you, from an online source like 1-800-HOMEOPATHY.com (see Resources below).
