      Do you ever wonder why your children don't listen to you? Or what children will listen to? Does your house turn chaotic at 4 pm every afternoon? When you are dealing with four children under five it can really be crazy, like my household. You need lots of communication ideas to deal with these active kids.

      Whether we realize it or not our children are getting mixed messages from us. As much as we love them they can drive us nuts.

      Children feel your interaction them then apply their language skills. Good communication between children and parents is not always easy. Encourage conversations with them even if just asking how their day went. Creating a place for them to confide tells them you're interested in them and their feelings.

      • Words that hurt - Let them know you disapprove of their disruptive behavior, not them. Speak without cursing at them.
      • Calm down, take ten and breathe or take a walk.

      • Don't lash out at them when you're angry. Deal with these situations with the right attitude.

      In today's world our day is so busy, sometimes our communication with children is limited to telling them what to do, and not to do that or go to bed. We need to create moments to talk to children when were not distracted by work or problems. Letting them know you care.

      Send out real feelings to your child, words that match your feelings. Children will feel the situation and act in reason through them. Be a good role model.

      - If you don't tell the truth about something they feel it.
      - They know if you are smoothing over the real facts.
      - If you speak in an unusually quiet tone, they think something is wrong.
      - If they here gossip, they think there is something to hide.
      - If your words don't match your facial expression they'll know it.

When parenting time is over for the day find a quiet place to write or think or just be alone when you're frustrated and stressed, with the things your children are doing. Parents also need time to be together too, without the kids it is essential to their marriage.
