A dinner party is nothing without a great tablescape. Ice bowls with flowers that compliment your dinner are a surprising addition to your dinner party!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two bowls that nest together
  • Flowers, leaves and spices
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Use two glass or stainless-steel bowls of the same shape. One should be small enough to fit inside the other with about a 1 inch space between the two bowls.

  2. Step 2

Arrange flowers, leaves, herbs or citrus slices around the inside of the larger bowl and place the smaller bowl over the decorations to hold them in place.
Hint: Use decorations that will complement what you plan to serve, such as Rosemary sprigs when you are serving rosemary chicken.

  3. Step 3

Tape the two bowls together so that they are flush and will not move apart, or displace decorations.

  4. Step 4

Carefully pour cooled, boiled water into the space between the bowls. Fill the bowls to about 1/2 inch from the top. The water MUST be boiled to make a clear and sparkling bowl with the decorations clearly visible!! Make sure the water has cooled, especially if you are using real flower!

  5. Step 5

Add more decorations if needed on the edges. Freeze overnight!

  6. Step 6

Remove the bowls from the freezer and allow them to stand at room temperature on a plate for about 10 to 20 minutes or until they separate easily. DO NOT run water over the bowls to hurry the process or you will ruin your decorations.
Remove the tape and lift out the inner bowl, and invert the larger bowl to release the ice bowl. Return it to the freezer until needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you place ice bowls on a towel or plate when serving or you will have a river!
  • Do not put hot food in the ice bowls!
  • These bowls can be made days in advance.
  • Great to keep dips cold!
  • Do NOT pour boiling water in glass bowls! Let water cool!
