The year is drawing to a close, but that does not apply to your garden. There are still plenty of things to do in a north Texas landscape in November. Before you know it, it will be spring, so get your garden ready for the busy season now.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Divide your spring perennials in November. If perennials remain in one place in the landscape, they can become overgrown. Give the ones you dig up to a friend—perhaps you'll get some in return.
Step2
Care for your plants that attract butterflies. Allow some milkweed to stay in your garden as monarch butterflies love them. Other favorite plants are asters, marigold and lupine.
Step3
Let some water gather in a puddle in your lawn in November. Butterflies will use these fresh-water puddles to gain the necessary minerals, salt and moisture.
Step4
Tend your tea and china roses in November. Some of these varieties bloom best in fall. A few North Texas favorites are Old Blush, Mutabilis and Ducher.
Step5
Root new roses from cuttings. November begins the best period of the time for doing this in Texas (the period ends in February.)
Step6
Harvest your citrus trees. Citrus is plentiful now through Christmas, making perfect Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts.
Step7
Order seeds in November for next season.
Step8
Prune your holly and yaupon plants. The cuttings can decorate your house in time for the holidays.
Step9
Plant bulbs for spring.
