Spring is here, and the spring flowers add color to the landscape. There are a few tasks that need to be done to help everything along, and also ensure even more flowering for next year and the next flowering season. Step1
Cut off the blossoms from annuals that flower in spring in North Texas. Some of the flowers are pansies, stock, snapdragons, and more. By doing this, you help to make the flowering period longer.
Step2
Fertilize the roses with small amounts of fertilizer that's balanced. Do this every four to six weeks throughout the month of May.
Step3
Root some cuttings in sandy, shady areas during May in North Texas. The stems need to be 3 to 4 inches.
Step4
Sow some seeds throughout your landscape for sunflowers, morning glory, marigold, gourds, portulaca, and periwinkle in May.
Step5
Plants bulbs that flower in summer in May.
Step6
Put some tubers of impatiens, begonias, caladium and more in areas where there's shade.
Step7
Place cuttings of chrysanthemums in sand and peat moss the cover the box with plastic to prevent wilting. Do this for 5 to 6 days throughout May.

Add mulch to your gardens and flower beds in May to help preserve moisture. Mulch is an important aspect of maintaining your North Texas landscape.
