Every bookworm needs a great bookmark. You can purchase a beaded bookmark from a craft boutique for way more than it's worth, or you can make one yourself for a fraction of the cost. Beaded bookmarks are simple to make and take very little time to complete. They make great gifts for teachers or any special someone that loves to read.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Waxed linen string
  • Crimping beads
  • Various beads
  • Charm
  • Scissors
  • Crimping tool or pliers
  1. Step 1

Measure 14 1/2-inches of waxed linen string. Cut the linen using sharp scissors.

  2. Step 2

Put a crimping bead on the string. Thread a charm on the string, and loop the string back through the crimping bead. Use a crimp tool to crimp the bead in place.

  3. Step 3

Set out the beads in the pattern you want them on the bookmark. String the beads on the thread. String a crimping bead on after the last bead. Crimp the bead.

  4. Step 4

Add a crimping bead approximately 11 inches from the first set of beads. Crimp it in place.

  5. Step 5

Lay out the pattern for the second set of beads. Thread them on the string, followed by a crimp bead. Crimp the last crimping bead.

  6. Step 6

Use scissors to cut off any leftover string from the ends of the bookmark.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use pliers if you do not have a crimping tool.
  • Find all supplies at jewelry supply or craft stores.
  • Make the bookmark this length so that it will fit in most books.
