2. Find out what active ingredients you should be looking for in your at-home chemical peel kit. Different ingredients will be used for different skin conditions. For example, lactic acid is used to address hyperpigmentation problems while salicylic acid is used for acne problems.
3. Take other skin problems into consideration. If you have extremely sensitive skin, you might want to consider a non-chemical enzyme peel. If your skin is oily, make sure your are using a peel appropriate for oily skin.
4. Look for a product. Your dermatologist might be able to recommend a peel for you, and many pharmacies and spas carry take-home versions of the product they use. Other places to shop are drugstores, discount stores and department stores. You can find more specialized products online as well.
