Step 1
Set up an account with Yahoo. Visit Yahoo and open an email account. It is free to set up an email account. You will be able to create your own custom email.

Visit Yahoo to set up and install the Yahoo messenger. It is free to download and usually downloads quickly. Your Yahoo IM name will be the same as your Yahoo email address.

Log into Yahoo IM. A box will open which allows you to begin texting and chatting with friends.

Click on the T symbol to change the text. This will bring up a new tool bar. You can choose bold, italics or underlined text. The bold, italics and underline feature will work with any color or style of font.

Open the drop box from the new tool bar and choose the style of font that you want. There are several different fonts to choose from. The most popular are Times New Roman and Ariel.

Step 6
Access the small artist's palette to change the color of the font. There are several colors to choose from under the color chart.
