Instructions

    • 1

Cover your work area with newspapers. Lay down several layers so that the area is absorbent.

    • 2

Fill a container, wider than the paper you will marble, with water. Add a drop of dish washing liquid.

    • 3

Drizzle liquid paints into the water. Gently drizzle the paint so that it floats on the top of the water.

    • 4

Stir the paint into the water using a toothpick or straw. Gently stir the paint so that it looks marbled on the water, not all mixed together.

    • 5

Hold the paper horizontally in both hands. Pull the edges up so that the paper forms a U shape.

    • 6

Place the bottom of the U gently on the top of the water. Slowly lower both edges into the water. Immediately pull the paper out of the water.

    • 7

Lay the wet paper paint side up on an absorbent surface to dry. Let the paper dry for several hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lay the marbled paper between two sheets of clean paper and press it with an iron to remove any wrinkles.

  • Use colors that compliment each other but are not from the same color family.

  • Do not leave an iron unattended while ironing paper. It will ignite quickly.
