How to Make Flubber

Kids love playing scientist and mixing up all the ingredients to make flubber. Try this activity on a rainy day or when you are just looking for something to do. This will keep them entertained for a while. The following will show you how to make flubber with your kids.

    Things You'll Need

    • Warm water
    • 20 Mule Team Borax
    • Elmer's White Glue
    • Poster paint (your choice)
    • Glitter (optional)

        Measure out 1 and 1/3 cups of warm water into a small container.

        Add 2 teaspoons of 20 Mule Team Borax. Mix well until the Borax is completely dissolved into the water. Set this mixture to the side.

        Measure out 1 and ½ cups of warm water. Add 2 cups of Elmer's White Glue. You can get gallon size containers of glue through online school supply websites or at teacher supply stores.

        Add a small amount of poster paint of your choice to this mixture and mix well until it is the color you want it to be. Don't add too much or it will come off on your hands as you play with the flubber.

        Add glitter to your flubber if you desire and mix well.

        Add the Borax mixture to the glue mixture. Mix it well with your hands. Once you've thoroughly mixed it up, you are done and ready to play with your flubber.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If flubber gets into your clothes, carpet or hair you can remove it by using white vinegar. Flubber dissolves in vinegar.

    • This recipe makes enough flubber for six children.

    • Store this mixture in an airtight container and it will keep for about two weeks.
