How to Plan a Boating Trip to Joe Pool Lake, Texas

Joe Pool Lake is located in the southern part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas. Joe Pool Lake stretches over 7,700 acres and features boating, fishing and other water sports. With several parks to choose from, access to the lake is easy and convenient.

Things You'll Need:

  • Boat
  • Cash
  • Cooler
  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Ice
  1. Step 1

    Rent a boat from the Lynn Creek Marina. Call (817) 467-2104 to find information about rentals and fees.

  2. Step 2

    Pay a small fee for entrance into any of the parks that offer access to Joe Pool Lake. Visit the Texas State Park website for current fee information.

  3. Step 3

    Obtain a fishing license if you plan on fishing from your boat. Get a license at a local sporting goods store.

  4. Step 4

    Pack a cooler full of ice snacks and drinks to take on the boat with you. Food is not available at the lake unless you dock at the Lynn Creek Marina.

  5. Step 5

    Plan to boat on the lake during the week. Avoid weekends and holidays if you are not a fan of big crowds and busy traffic.

  6. Step 6

    Access Joe Pool Lake from Lynn Creek Park or Lynn Creek Marina when coming from the north. Access the lake from the north east at Cedar Hill State Park or Joe Pool Marina. Enter from Britton Park in the south or Loyd Park from the west.

  • Joe Pool Marina does not have restrooms.
  • Britton Park has no handicapped accessibility.
  • Britton Park does not have courtesy docks.
