Beautiful Lake Washington is located in King County, Washington. It runs the length of Seattle, Kirkland and Bellevue and a smattering of other cities along the way. Use these steps to plan a great sail boating trip on Lake Washington.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Finf out what part of Lake Washington you would like to visit. With so many communities to choose from, it is wise to check busy seasons. One great site to use is Boating on the Web.

  2. Step 2

Contact your travel agent to ask about available boating packages. Many vacation packages are now being formed around not only location but activities in the area.

  3. Step 3

Plan the trip yourself. Find a boating company that offers tour or guided boating. Book a hotel then gas up the car. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, the drive is beautiful. If you don't, the flight in will feature a bird's-eye view of Mount Rainier and possibly other peaks along the Cascade range.

  4. Step 4

Shop around. Make sure to call multiple boating companies and marinas to get the best price or adventure. Pack a lunch and make sure that everyone on board is wearing a life jacket.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always practice safe boating. Everyone on board should be wearing a life jacket and know how to swim.
  • Be familiar with the maritime laws in Washington. It's a good idea to carry a handbook and have a knowledgeable guide with you.
  • Never drink and boat. It's dangerous and against the law.
