How to Customize the Dreamweaver Favorites Insert Bar

There is a feature in Dreamweaver that will take you a few minutes to set up, but will save you time once you are designing your websites. Use the Favorites section of the Insert bar to group and organize the Insert bar buttons that you commonly use in your Dreamweaver websites.

Things You’ll Need:

• Dreamweaver 8

1. Open Dreamweaver. Open a new or existing site or page.
2. Locate the Dreamweaver Insert Bar. It is located under the menu bar and begins with a button that reads "Common." Click this button and choose "Favorites" from the drop-down menu.
3. Right-click, if using Windows, or Control-click, if using a Macintosh, in the gray area of the insert bar. Click "Customize Favorites."
4. Add an object by selecting an object in the "Available Objects" pane on the left. Click the arrow to the right to add the object to the "Favorite Objects" pane.
5. Change the order of objects by selecting the object in the "Favorite Objects" pane and using the up or down arrow buttons above the pane to change the order.
6. Delete an object by selecting the object in the "Favorite Objects" pane and clicking the "Remove Selected Object" button above the pane. The "Remove Selected Object" button shows a picture of a trash can.
7. Click "OK" and view the changes to the Dreamweaver Favorites Insert Bar.

Tips & Warnings

• You can further organize your Dreamweaver Favorites Insert Bar by adding a line separator. This can be done by clicking the "Add Separator" button below the "Favorite Objects" pane.
