Enjoying chocolate without gaining weight may seem tricky, considering the large amounts of fat and sugar that are packed into each little square. Follow these steps to savor your favorite sweet without putting on the pounds.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Choose dark chocolate over milk or white chocolate. Dark chocolate may reduce your blood pressure, and you'll feel more satisfied after eating it because of its rich taste.
Step2
Eat chocolate in moderation. Having a few squares every day won't put on the pounds, but eating a whole bar every day will definitely make your pants tighter.
Step3
Let the chocolate melt in your mouth instead of chewing it. Allow the rich taste to last as long as possible so that you feel fulfilled after having just a little bit.
Step4
Combine your small daily intake of chocolate with a healthy diet and regular exercise. If you're eating right throughout the day and working out 3 to 5 times a week, the bit of chocolate you eat daily won't increase your weight.

Tips & Warnings

  • Replace other sweets that you normally eat with dark chocolate. For example, if you usually a piece of cake or a bowl of ice cream for dessert, get rid of those sweets. Eat a square or two of chocolate instead.
  • Don't use the potential health benefits of dark chocolate as an excuse to eat large portions. Remember, chocolate is still fattening, and gorging on it will definitely add pounds.
