A creche is a French word for "infant's bed." People usually use the term to describe the resting place from the nativity scene in the Christian religion. A creche is a great at-home project to make your Christmas more festive.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Shoebox
  • Craft knife or scissors
  • Paint or colored paper for decoration
  • Straw or shredded paper for decoration

Step1
Cut the edge of the lid of the shoebox at each of the corners.
Step2
Remove one of the long edges and cut the other long edge in the center.
Step3
Bend the lid in half at the cut you just made. Unfold the bend to the point where one end of the cut edge touches the under side of the lid. Tape the 2 halves of the edge together with masking tape. Your lid should now resemble a roof.
Step4
Attach your roof to the side of the shoebox, allowing for some overhang on the open side.
Step5
Glue the construction paper to the sides and inside of your newly created manger.
Step6
Paint your wooden figures and arrange them in the manger according to the Nativity story.
