Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Visit the Intel website and research computers that use Intel processors. Use the section of the website that will find the right Intel processor for you, based on the needs that you have. Click on the sections of home entertainment, gaming, just getting started and lean and mean to find the right computer.
Step2
Use the Intel website to click on each processor to see what type of computers use that specific processor. An Intel processor comparison chart will help you compare the different types of processors to see which one is right for you.
Step3
Research the suggested computers based on your needs. Use the CNET website to read reviews of the computers and compare costs.
Step4
Decide the amount of memory (RAM) you need in a computer. The more software you have on your computer, the greater amount of memory you will need to make sure that everything runs smoothly. The minimum amount of memory recommended is 1GB of RAM.
Step5
Determine the size of disk drive and type of video card you need in your computer. Pick a hard drive that offers at least 80 GB and a video card that supports DirectX9 if you run applications that require a lot of graphics.
Step6
Pick out any peripherals and software that you might need to use with your Intel computer. Monitors come in either CRT or LCD type. CRT's are more bulky than the flat LCD's but will save you some money if you are on a tight budget.
Step7
Purchase the Intel computer from your local computer or electronics store, directly from the Intel website or from an online computer store.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't get enough RAM when you first purchase your computer, you can buy additional RAM at a later date for your Intel computer.
