How to Change the Default Font in Outlook

Many people and businesses use Microsoft Outlook as their default email client. Outlook provides many ways to personalize your email messages, such as adding a background wallpaper, smiley face icons and clip art. Changing the font for outgoing and reply messages is one of the easiest ways to add a personal touch to your email messages. Follow these quick and simple steps to change the default font in Outlook.

      Open Outlook. Go to the "Tools" menu, select "Options" and then click the "Mail Format" tab. Click the "Stationery and Fonts" button in the middle of the dialog box.

      Select the "Personal Stationery" tab. Click the "Font" button for new mail messages. Choose your favorite font style and color. Add more personalization to your Outlook email stationery by experimenting with the font size, bold, italics and other formatting options. Click "OK" when finished.

      Create a signature. Select the "Signature" tab. Click the "New" button to create a signature; type a title for the signature and click Ok. Under the "Select a Signature to Edit" section, highlight the title of the new signature. Under the "Edit Signature" section, type the content of your signature such as your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.

      Personalize your signature by modifying the Outlook font style or color and adding a format such as bold or underline. Click "OK" until all dialog boxes close.

      Go to Outlook. On the "Tools" menu, select "Options" and then click the "Mail Format" tab.

      Change the font. Click the "Fonts" button. Click the "Choose Font" button for the option "When Composing a New Message." Select the font style, color, size and other formatting preferences. Click "OK" when finished. Repeat this step for the options "When Replying or Forwarding" and "When Composing and Reading Plain Text."

      Make a signature. Select the "Signatures" button and then click the "New" button. Enter a title for your signature or select an existing template and click "Next." Type the content of your signature such as your name, phone number and email address.

      Customize your Outlook signature. Click the "Font" button to select your preferences for the font style, size, color, etc. Click the "Finish" button to save your signature and then click "OK." Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the dialog box.

    I want to make a change to the font size in Outlook, Office 2003. I have gone to "other settings" when I am doing an advanced search, changed the font style and also the font size. While the page is up, the changes look fine, but as soon as I close advanced search, and go to reopen it, the changes are gone. Help?
