You have successfully downloaded games, but you can't remember which ones you have. You need to have a way to keep track of all the games. The best way to do that is by cataloging them. The following will explain ways you can catalog a game collection.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Write down your games on a pad of paper. You can find the games by going to your start icon and clicking on programs or you probably have icons on your desktop for the games. If all else fails, open Windows Explorer and look under Programs there.
Step2
Open up a spreadsheet. You will want to have the information in a spreadsheet because it will be easier to add to as you increase your game collection.
Step3
Type in your games. If you have the information you can put in the date you downloaded the game, who you downloaded it from and any other pertinent information about the game.
Step4
Highlight the area and sort by title to get an alphabetical listing, or you can sort by date, so you know when you got the game. This depends on how you want the games cataloged.
Step5
Save your work to your hard drive. You may also wish to save it on a cd, so if anything happens to your computer you will still have a copy of cataloged games.
Step6
Add more games to your list. As you increase your game collection, add them to your spreadsheet. If you add them after downloading, you will have all the information that you need to fill into your file.
Step7
You have successfully cataloged all games and you know how to maintain a catalog of games. There is also software you can purchase to catalog games. There is a link for one in the Resource section.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is much easier to catalog games if you do it as you get them.
