To many of us, our pets are members of the family. Many hotels and bed and breakfast inns will accept pets. A certain pet etiquette should be observed when you stay at these places.

From Quick Guide: Bed & Breakfasts
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ask if the inn accepts pets when you call to make reservations. It's not a good idea to discover that it doesn't accept pets when you arrive with Fluffy tucked under your arm.

  2. Step 2

Request a ground-level room. This makes nighttime potty runs easier and less disturbing to the other guests.

  3. Step 3

Find out where a good walking trail or a park is located for daily walks with your dog.

  4. Step 4

Place the litter box in the bathroom, if your pet requires one. This makes clean up easier. Always clean up after your pet.

  5. Step 5

Cover the furniture where your pet will be resting. This keeps hair and other particles from being left behind on the beds and seating areas.

  6. Step 6

Don't leave your pet in your room unattended for a long period. When in a strange environment, even a good-natured pet can get into things or make noise and disturb other guests.

  7. Step 7

Don't take your pet to breakfast with you. Pets are not allowed near food preparation areas. Feed your pet in the bathroom or on a hard floor.

  8. Step 8

Keep your pet on a leash or in a crate or cage when unattended. Don't let it run loose.
